Tensions between the US and Iran are once again escalating. According to a Bloomberg News report citing senior officials from the Trump administration, the US could launch a military strike on Iran as early as the end of this week. Discussions are reportedly underway in Washington, although the plan may still change at the last moment.
A White House official, speaking anonymously, told Bloomberg, “All options are on the table. The administration is considering every possible scenario.”
On Tuesday, President Donald Trump directly targeted Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, stating, “We know where he is hiding, but we won’t kill him just yet.” Trump warned that if provoked, the US would “devastate” Iran.
Within hours, Khamenei responded via multiple posts on X (formerly Twitter), asserting Iran’s readiness for war and vowing not to bow down.
When asked on Wednesday whether the US would attack Iran, Trump maintained ambiguity, saying, “Maybe we will, maybe we won’t.”
Meanwhile, the Wall Street Journal reported that Trump expressed a desire to carry out a military strike but wants to give Iran some time to halt its uranium enrichment activities as a condition. The administration is watching closely to decide its next move.
In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi clarified that Iran has no intention to build nuclear weapons. “Our nuclear program is for peaceful energy and research purposes only,” he said.
As the Middle East remains volatile, a potential US-Iran military conflict could have global repercussions.
